Hatred Is Not Patriotism”
- “Education, Not Violence”
- “The Real Enemy Is Ignorance” south Africans need education — desperately. The things they do prove to the whole world that there is no education among these people. How could you hate and kill someone just because he is from Malawi? That is ignorance turned into cruelty, and it shames the nation.
Zwelinzima Vavi’s words cut straight to the heart of this madness. As General Secretary of SAFTU, he has condemned the recent anti‑immigrant marches in Gauteng, KuGompo, and KwaZulu‑Natal. He exposes them for what they are: built on lies, fueled by blind hatred, and unable to distinguish between undocumented migrants and those who are legally here.
These marches paint all foreign nationals as enemies — a dangerous falsehood that deepens division instead of solving the real problems. Economic frustrations are being misdirected at immigrants, while unemployment, inequality, and failed governance remain untouched. Community tensions rise, hostility spreads, and the very foundation of workers’ solidarity is being destroyed.
Vavi’s intervention is a wake‑up call: the fight for justice cannot be built on scapegoating. To attack both documented and undocumented immigrants indiscriminately is to erode truth, compassion, and solidarity.
💔 The real challenge is not immigrants — it is the broken system. To misdirect anger is to miss the solution. And to kill out of hate is proof of a society that has lost its moral compass.
